Perhaps interior designer, Beverly Rousseau, found some interesting pieces to use in her line of work after skipping through this catalogue of furniture and home accessories.

Family-operated Matahari Enterprises, opened its first store in Montego Bay four years ago. Fulfilling the desire to expand, it recently opened its second branch in the Corporate Area, on Windsor Avenue.

To celebrate the new branch there was a two-day grand opening over last weekend. Long-time customers and some new prospects came out for the occasion to admire the wide range of furniture and home accessories that the store stocks.

Co-owner Jason Shelton says the pieces are sourced in Indonesia and range from accessories to indoor and outdoor furniture. He noted that the expansion was something they always considered and the Corporate Area branch appeals more to the retail market as opposed to Montego Bay, which is more commercial.

Having made its name among interior designers, Matahari Enterprises is open to everyone who is looking for items for the home. Opening just in time for Christmas, Shelton says there will be some pieces that can be bought as gifts or as additions for the home. "We have accessories like lamps and wicker trays and we will get some funky stuff for Christmas. We will be introducing some new accessories very soon."

Those on hand for the grand opening received complimentary wine courtesy of Caribbean Producers Jamaica and a serving of Indonesian chicken sauté in peanut sauce.

Matahari Enterprises is opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
